Sippy Cups

Does anyone out there have any ideas on how to get babies to take a sippy cup? My boys are starting to self-wean and will take nothing but the boob. I really don't mind this, I just do not want them to get dehydrated when they go for 6 hours or so with nothing to drink. Maybe this is fine, I honestly haven't researched it much. El was drinking from a cup by 7 months, so I never had to deal with this! I even attempted giving Levi a bottle of water and he refused it. They just like to chew on the nipples. So....any ideas?????

*note: I have not and probably will not give them any sugary juices. Water is all I've tried. Did put a little lemon in it one time...but no juice!

Wish I had a suggestion for you, but I got lucky. All 3 of my boys went right to sippy cups at around 6 months. These two babies love their water sippy cups.

Maybe take the stopper out, so the water pours out easy. Might get them excited.

I wish I had a suggestion for you. We've been doing apple juice to "grease up" the intestines to help him go for a while. He's still not a fan of the sippy. He prefers just a regular cup. If you figure out something, please share! :)

(see... I'm no help at all!)

We tried the Born Free Trainer and Drinking Cups, and had success with them. The valve doesn't actually stop the flow of the liquid, so it doesn't require a lot of suction. If you want to try one before you drop $11 on a sippy cup, let me know. :)

Hey Erin! Michaela doesn't like sippy cups either. She will drink out of them without the valves but just gnaws on them like teething toys with the valves. Luckily, she started drinking out of a regular cup when she was about 5-6 mo., so my wish for the sippy has been for on the go. Last week, she started drinking out of a regular water bottle well...it is one of the camelbak kind with the mouthpiece that you bite and suck. She figured it out pretty easily and likes it a lot now. Try it, and if they don't like it, you can still use it so you won't be wasting more money! :)
