12 weeks

Well, we've made it through the 1st trimester. What a blessing. I had my last appt. with the specialist today and the babies look wonderful! They were kicking their legs, moving their arms, and just bouncing all over the place! They are each 2 inches long now! Isn't that amazing?

The last few days I felt pretty good (even though I was puking this morning!) We even played outside for a few hours yesterday afternoon (this is HUGE!). My belly has popped out a little the last 2 days. It's crazy! My pants are snug now.

We had HELP! :-)

Last week Wes' parents came into town. It was so fantastic to be able to sleep in and not look at raw food while preparing it. They even helped take care of our terrible weed problem. Whew, a week a relief was so great, and I think it helped get me over the worst of the sickness...at least that's what I'm hoping for. Elliot had a great time hanging out with her Nanny and Poppy. I think she was thrilled to not be entertained by the T.V. for a few days! :-) The day they left she told me, "I want Nanny and Poppy!" I asked if I bored her and she said, "You're not boring, Mommy." (I'm not 100% sure she knows what "bored" means! haha)

11 weeks

Well, I'm now 11 weeks (which means only 1 until 12!! ahh!) I had my first visit with a regular OB/GYN yesterday and was less than impressed. I knew that I would have to make some sacrifices in getting the birth experience I want--but not everything! Even if I was having one baby in a hospital, I'd be making sacrifices. But this was a little absurd to me. Here are some things they said that I was SUPER disappointed in:

* Most twins born around 36 weeks. If not out by 38 weeks they start to get concerend and want them out. Why? Seems rediculous to me.
* C-section rate "well over 50%". Granted many women do elect for them
* NO walking during labor. Must be continually on monitors. This is just not okay with me.
* Most likely will not deliver baby "B" Breech. Won't even consider delivery A breech.

So, I'm now on the search for another doctor. At least some of these have to be possible. Yes, I know the whole "healty baby, healthy mom" is the outcome everyone wants. BUT--the birth process is extremely important and I think it has lasting effects on mom and the babies. If I'm stuck in bed attached to monitors and get a stupid epidural I'm gonna be pissed!

One good thing about the visit is we (Me, Candy, & Elliot) got to hear both the babies heartbeats with the doppler. That was a first! Of course, we've seen them, but it was cool to hear them.

Well, I'm off to do something more productive than complain. Please pray that we will find a good doctor that understands the importance of natural birth-even with 2 babies! :-) Thanks! Also, if you are praying for us, I'd love if you'd start praying that I will be able to breasfeed these 2 babies. I think that's even more important than a natural birth--but the 2 can often go hand-in-hand.

Scuba Elliot

Well, I feel like I've totally neglected to post pic's of our precious Elliot lately. I've finally uploaded a few and you can check them out HERE.

She's gotten to spend some quality time with some of our good friends while Mommy stays home puking and sleeping! :-)

10 weeks

I had an appt. today and it went really well! The babies were moving all over and you could see their arms and legs bouncing up and down! It was so neat. Once again, they both measured exactly where they should be. I'm attaching 2 videos, however, I forgot to turn the sound on my camera so it's hard to tell what's going on. Sorry! The picture I got today isn't very good so I'm not putting it on. The babies just look like blobs! haha

Earlier in the week I was given Phenergan for nausea and vomiting. Well, it took care of that problem, but the drug is a tranquilizer and knocked me out! Today they gave me a perscription for Zofran. This is supposed to have less side effects. Downside is, it's so expensive that I am only allowed 15 pills every 30 days. (15 pills would be over $200 for the generic without insurance!) So, if I take it as directed every 4-6 hrs, it'd only last like 4 days! Guess I'll only take it when I feel like total crap! :-)

This is Baby A. The reason it's kinda bouncy looking is because the baby is moving it's arms up and down constantly! The arms sometimes appear as brighter white lines. It's head is positioned to the far left. The + cursor is over it's heart. Oh, and the dark white area above the baby is the placenta!!

This is baby B. It is a still shot the first 22 seconds or so while she was measuring it. Then, you can see both babies in the picture. It's hard to make out what's happening when they get both babies in because it gets kinda blurry and they turn to blobs. Around 37 seconds the + cursor is on Baby B's heart, then she moves it over to Baby A's. A is just a jumping bean! It was so cute!

Orgasmic Birth

Today I hosted a screening of the new documentary "Orgasmic Birth." It went really well. We had a variety of vendors (Pilates, midwives, birth center, photographer, etc.) then showed the film. It went really well. We had about 37 people there! I wasn't sure what to expect, so I was quite pleased. After the film, we had a Q&A panel and that also went quite well.

I guess it was kind of a long day for my pregnant self! I didn't eat too much (b/c when I do I puke!) When we got home I laid on the couch for a bit. El went to the potty and was yelling "Mommy, wipe my butt!" I got up to do that, and the next thing I remember I was laying on the ground in the hallway kinda waking up and shaking! It was so stinkin' scary! I had NO idea what I was doing! I didn't even remember I was headed to the bathroom until I heard Elliot screaming for me again. I got myself up, freaked out, and had Wes help me to the couch. I'm hoping getting some food in my body will help! Maybe I just got up too fast. I've never passed out before in my life--and believe me, it's really scary. I think I just bumped my head a little as it's a little sore and I have a slight headache.

Praying tomorrow's not so rough! Wes will be gone for a few days so I'm on my own! Boy--would this be a nice time to live around some family!

9 weeks

Well, yesterday I was officially 9 weeks pregnant! YAH! I took a pic, and will post it when I feel like it. I'm quite perplexed as to how I'll ever gain a pound when I puke 3 times a day and feel nausous the rest of the time. It's kinda frustrating...but...big BUT, I am super thankful that everything is going well with this pregnany. Although I'd like to feel good, I wake up everyday and know without a doubt that I am still pregnant! haha.

I just feel like I'm boring my child to death these days. We were going to run to Target this morning and then go to the pool. We packed everything up for our little day out. However, a few minutes in Target did me in! I felt so yucky I could barely get to the car. Luckily, (I guess) Elliot was really obnoxious and screaming in the store, so I could blame not getting to go to the pool on her behavior.

Creative Kid?

I got down my sewing box to find a ruler to measure Elliot for a scarf Mimi is making her.  I came back out to the living room and neglected to put the box back up in my closet.  Elliot is playing quietly in my room and I ask her what she's doing.  She comes out and is so proud of her handy work.  She stuck a straight pin into her blow up bouncy ball!!  I told her that it was now ruined and all the air will leak out.  She apparently doesn't believe me as she thinks she's just added a beautiful pink decoration to her ball!  Now, she's poking it in and out making lots of holes in her ball.  So much for that toy!

Week 8 Appointment

Today I had an 8 week check up with the doctor. Everything still looks great. Baby "B" scared me for a minute. You can see on the video that it looks very different from "A" and appeared very small at first. However, it turns out it was just hiding from us. Once we got a view of it, it measured exactly the same as Baby "A"--which is perfect! :-) YAY, what a relief!




They have grown SO MUCH in just a week! It is absolutley amazing to witness this change. I know the pictures and video don't do it much justice...but it's better than nothing. Baby A was so big when we first saw it. You could see the heartbeat, the head defined, arm buds, and the spine!! Last week it looked like a piece of rice!! It's soo miraculous!

My mom-instinct is telling me that I'm having two BOYS! I'll claim it now. haha. However, Elliot is pretty insistent that it's two girls...and her intuition has been pretty good so far. We'll see. Just had to throw my guess out there.
